From the Author

“I grew up in America at a time of values, etiquette, tolerance and mutual respect; protocol, manners, tradition and spirituality were all taken very seriously. As I watched the world evolve around me, from black and white to a full spectrum of color, in people, places, attitudes, and values, I was inspired to find ways for myself and others to cope with the changing world around us. As an ambitious and proud African American woman, I have encountered many stumbling blocks and discovered that life was not a bowl of cherries. Instead of journaling, I documented my life experiences by writing rhyming poetry reflecting history, hot topics, social policy, and social change.”

“Instead of conventional journal writing, I used rhyming prose to document, celebrate and sometimes escape from real life experiences. I am inviting my readers to share this journey with me in hopes that it reminds them of how far they have come, empowers them to deal with today’s challenges, and gives them hope for a future of equality, justice and prosperity for all.”

“I am optimistic and believe that good things can come out of bad experiences, we should learn from our mistakes, and that ultimately, life is a spiritual journey. It is my hope that “Inspiring Faith, Hope, & Sustainability” will not be just another poetry book but a tool used for academic research, positive personal growth, and an instrument that inspires global social change.”

“Please see my blog for poem of the month. Since the mission of Purls of Wisdom Publishing is to inspire faith & hope, I welcome positive comments & feedback. All negative comments or post will be deleted.”
